Plettenberg Bay Activities

The name "Garden Route" was conceived over 50 years ago to promote the diverse and beautiful coastal plain that lies between the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains on the north, and the Indian Ocean on the south.

The Garden Route varies greatly as the magic of the 140 kilometre Route unfolds. Low in height, but dense in species, pristine Fynbos dunes and cliffs merge with towering indigenous forests. A few gentle rivers meander on lower plains, while many easterly rivers cut massive, steep-sided gorges through the spectacular interspace with soft, sandy beaches in half-heart bays, linked by boulders and pebbles thrown up by the strength of the ocean over millennia. This is a holiday paradise for anyone who enjoys the outdoors.

The beauty of Plettenberg Bay is unrivalled - majestic mountains, sparkling seas, pristine beaches with safe swimming, mysterious forests, tranquil lagoons, nature reserves, wildlife, including the big five, dolphins, whales, Fynbos vegetation and hiking trails are all waiting to be discovered.
